Sofiero Castle is one of Sweden’s most beautiful castles, situated just north of the town of Helsingborg. The castle is surrounded by velvety lawns, lush green trees and dazzling flower beds above two rhododendron ravines that overlook the Öresund and Denmark.
Landscaped by royalty
The castle was built in Dutch Renaissance style in 1864 and was Danish Queen Ingrid's summer home as well as many other royal figure. It is famous for its exceptionally beautiful landscaped parks and rhododendron garden planted by King Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden.

There are several superb flower gardens in the park, some with panoramic views of the Öresund Sound, and generous lawns for picnics. There’s a café, plant shop, castle restaurant and a farm shop selling things for the home and garden.
The season starts March 31 and ends in September. The castle is open for guided tours and park walks all year round.
In 2010, Sofiero was named Europe’s most beautiful park and voted Sweden’s fourth most popular visitor destination on Trip Advisor in 2013.
